Description
In a May 1900 magazine article Theodore Roosevelt wrote, "What we have a right to expect of the American boy is that he shall turn out to be a good American man." Certainly this was a noble sentiment from a man who had every reason to believe that he was an exemplar of the "good American man." The president's first son and namesake would not turn thirteen until September of that year. Imagine life as Theodore Roosevelt Jr. A lesser man would have languished in the shadows of a father as famous and flamboyant as Theodore Roosevelt Sr. Theodore Roosevelt Jr., however, was anything but a lessser man.
